Tim Schoessler

Tim Schoessler, pianist and organist, began public performance as a soloist and accompanist at age 9. He lives in Laramie, WY and is attending the University of Wyoming where he is pursuing a degree in keyboard performance on a full scholarship. Tim was a two-time winner of the MTNA Wyoming Baldwin Junior High Piano Competition, alternate for the 1998 MTNA Wyoming Yamaha High School Competition, and was the winner of the NCOC 2000 Young Artist Competition. Since coming to UW he has won the Dorothy Jacoby Young Artist Competition, the 2001 MTNA Wyoming Steinway Collegiate Piano Competition and placed second in the MTNA Northwest Regional Piano Competition in Seattle, WA in January of 2002. He appears frequently at UW as soloist and accompanist, and is organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Laramie. As a chess player, Tim is ranked in the top ten players in Wyoming and has a USCF rating of 1780. His chess accomplishments include first prize in the 1997 Wyoming Open Reserve Section, fourth place at the 1998 Wytoming championships, second place at the 2002 Cheyenne Open, and fifth place at the 2003 Wyoming championships. Tim is very active in the newly formed University of Wyoming Knights Chess Club and travels frequently to tournaments in Wyoming and northern Colorado. In his spare time, he plays the electric guitar and is an avid tennis player, competing in two or three tournaments a year in Wyoming.
