STUDENT ASSISTANTS
A limited number of Student Assistant (SA) positions are available for students ages 13 and older. These motivated, independent students will enroll in two classes of their own choosing. The balance of the day, they will perform a variety of tasks, from helping younger students in class to cleaning up the lunchroom. To apply, please submit the following by May 14th: a letter of interest, telling us why you would like to be a SA, and any skills you have that would benefit MMI; a letter of recommendation from your music teacher (NOT necessary if you are a former SA); MMI registration form with two class choices; and the $25.00 application fee.
AUDITION TAPES
Students who want to perform during recitals on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday must complete the recital portion of the registration form and send a tape or CD of their polished recital piece with their registration form by May 14th. We encourage recital pieces to be memorized. Please understand that in an effort to keep recital length reasonable, we may not be able to accept everyone who desires to play. We are unable to add students to the recitals once the deadline has passed.
INSTRUMENTS
Violins, violas, cellos, and flutes are not provided by MMI. These instruments are available for weekly rentals at area music stores. MMI will provide guitars for those students registered for the guitar classes. The guitars may not, however, be taken home during the week.
CHESS & KNITTING
Chess students are to bring their own boards that have authentic Staunton chess pieces, available at toy stores for about $3. Intermediate knitting class - please bring 16 inch size 8 circular needles and about 100 yards of medium weight yarn.
PARADE OF PERFORMANCES
On Friday, join your child in his/her classroom as the students present what they have learned during the week!
ICE CREAM SOCIAL
FRIDAY 3:00 PM
Chill out at our ice cream social while MMI fiddlers dazzle us with their finger work and our hi-hoppers amaze us with their super cool moves!
FOOD
A morning snack is included with the registration fee. Sack lunches are available for $4.25 each day, and are served in the school cafeteria. Lunches must be purchased in advance. Sign up on the registration form.
HOUSING
Host families are available for out-of-town students. $75 per person includes dinner Sunday through Thursday, breakfast Monday through Friday, and daily transportation to and from MMI.
SCHOLARSHIPS
A limited number of "need based" scholarships are available. The scholarship application can be downloaded from this site or call (406) 254-8554. Applications are due with registration forms by May 14th. Applicants will be notified of award and fees due by June 2nd.
