Does my child need to play an instrument to attend MMI?
All children are welcome at MMI, regardless of their music experience. Students are free to experiment by taking up to five classes of electives.
Do the pre-kindergarten kids attend the entire day?
This age group is scheduled for three classes and a snack in the morning, so they will be at the Institute from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. They are welcome to attend recitals at 11:10 AM each day.

Do students need to read music to play in them?
MMI’s three orchestras – Robin, Mozart and Chamber – involve everyone from nonreaders to advanced students. String and piano ensembles are for small groups of musicians. It is necessary to read notes for all but the Robin Orchestra. See the Class Schedule for more details.
What is a Master Class?
A Master Class is a small class for students who play the same instrument and are at approximately the same level.
